More info
In the heart of Pomerol, Clos’Eglise is an old estate which, with 14 hectares, was one of the largest in Pomerol in the 18th century. An estate split then split it into 2, one part becoming Clos L’Eglise-Clinet, the other keeping the original name, going to the Rouchut family. In 1925, an unofficial classification of the Pomerol wines placed the estate in the "leading pack" of the appellation with La Conseillante and Vieux Certan. It seems that the wine did not progress over the last century until its acquisition in 1997 by Sylviane Garcin Cathiard, sister of Daniel Cathiard, owner of Smith Haut-Lafitte.
