More info
The wine vocation and the notoriety of Chäteau Lagrange developed from the 16th century. Then, in 1855, Lagrange was classified Third Cru, thanks to the efforts and vision of Count Düchatel, owner from 1842 to 1874. He extended the estate to 280 hectares, 120 of which were vines.
When in 1983, the Japanese family group Suntory, leader in the world of drinks and spirits, acquired the property, it undertook a spectacular renovation of the estate. Priority is given to the vineyard and then to the modernization of the vat room and cellars. The efforts made since the 1980s continue and give birth to a powerful and elegant wine, in the tradition of the great Saint-Julien.
A new tandem, Matthieu Bordes and Keiichi Shiina, continues this quest for excellence with greater respect for the environment and a reduction of the property's ecological footprint.
