More info
A curious geological accident brought to the surface to the south-east of the Pomerol plateau, a long line of gravel. Château L'Evangile is located in this rare land. The estate is bordered to the north by the vines of Château Pétrus and is only separated to the south from Cheval Blanc in Saint-Emilion by a secondary road.
The estate was structured in the 18th century under the leadership of the Léglise family and was baptized L'Evangile in the 19th century. From 1862, Paul Chaperon then his heirs, the Ducasse family, remained owners until 1990, when the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) acquired L'Evangile.
The group's influence is reflected in particular in a more refined selection of the great wine and the creation of the second Blason de L'Evangile wine. A renewal plan was initiated and the reconstruction of the vat room and cellars was finalized in 2004. The efforts undertaken were crowned by a decade of remarkable vintages.
